What is the role of AdBlue in the DPF?

AdBlue does NOT act directly on the DPF, but it is essential for another emission control system: SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), which complements the DPF’s action in modern diesel engines.

AdBlue (a solution of urea and demineralized water) is injected into the exhaust system before the SCR catalyst. The chemical reaction: it converts NOx (toxic pollutants) into harmless nitrogen and water.
